Frederick County, Virginia was formed in 1743 from Orange County. Old Frederick County included all or part of four counties in present-day Virginia: Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, and Frederick, as well as five in present-day West Virginia: Hardy, Hampshire, Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan.
Elizabeth Lupton Paxson was born on February 21 1721 in Newtown Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Her birth was recorded in the Middletown Monthly meeting minutes. Her parents were Joseph Lupton and Mercy Twining.
Elizabeth did not move to Frederick County, Virginia with her family when they left in about 1740.
She married Henry Paxson, Jr. on May 28, 1745 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Henry was born on August 28, 1722. He was the son of Henry Paxon, Sr. and Ann Plumly (Plumlee).
Elizabeth and Henry lived in Solebury Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania and their children were born there. Mahlon Paxson (1746, married Jane Parry),

It is north of Philadelphia and just west of Trenton, New Jersey.
Bucks County, Pennsylvania is one of three original Pennsylvania Counties and was formed in 1682. Originally it was a large territory that included all of what would later be Berks, Northampton, and Lehigh.

The latter was a son of James Paxson, from Bycot House, parish of Slow, Oxfordshire, England, who settled in Bucks county in 1682. . .Mahlon Paxson, grandfather of Hugh P., married Jane Parry, by whom he had four children: Alice, Asher, Phineas and Jane.

Elizabeth [Lupton], the wife of James Hambleton, was a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Lupton) Paxson, and granddaughter of Henry and Ann
Plumly Paxson, the latter being a brother to William before mentioned, and
both sons of James and Jane Paxson, who came from Bucks county, England,
m 1682.

James Hambleton, son of Stephen, b. Jan.
5, 1754, in Bucks County, Pa.; d. Nov. 27, 1833, at
Drumore; farmer, and at one time taught school; lived
for a few years on a part of the farm owned by his
father in Solebury, and about 1790 moved to Drumore,
Lancaster County, Pa., where he bought a farm and
resided till his death.
He m 1779, Elizabeth Paxson,
a second cousin of his mother, b. Feb. 15, 1752; d.
Mar. 14, 1832; dau. of Henry and Elizabeth (Lupton)
Paxson. James and wife were both members of the
Society of Friends, as were all their children.

2. Hannah (twin), b. May 8, 1781; d. Sept. S, 1870; m. Robert Wiggins or Wigons, farmer; resided in York County, Pa.

1813, Eli Smedley; resided in Lancaster County, Pa. She
was a minister in the Society of Friends (Hicksite branch)
for 27 years. Eli was an elder of the meeting.

Dec. 12, 1815, in a public meeting of Friends at Solebury.
